What is the ICE2EV Scrappage Scheme?
The ICE2EV Scrappage Scheme is a new Irish Government initiative launching on 1 July 2026. It gives drivers up to €8,500 off a brand new electric vehicle when they scrap an older petrol or diesel car.
The savings are made up of two grants:
€5,000 ICE2EV Scrappage Grant (for scrapping a pre-2014 car) €3,500 SEAI Electric Vehicle Grant (existing grant, still available)
This is a €10 million pilot fund, first-come-first-served, with enough to support around 2,000 cars. Once it's gone, it's gone.
Am I Eligible?
You may be eligible if you meet ALL of the following:
✅ You own a petrol or diesel car registered in 2013 or earlier
✅ You are scrapping the vehicle (not selling or trading in)
✅ You are buying a new qualifying electric vehicle
✅ The new EV is priced within the grant threshold
✅ You are purchasing from an approved dealer like Kearys
