A decade after the S1000RR arrived on the market, the new version bursts onto the scene in 2019, and it’s taking an entirely new approach — one that’s sleeker, faster and stronger.
BMW wants to change the superbike landscape with the S1000RR 2019, and the intensive redesign proves it. Its swing arm is braced from beneath, and the tight lines of the chassis reveal a compact engine; this model is 4kg lighter than its predecessors. With distinctive Z-shaped rails along the engine’s contours, this is a beast with some serious beauty.
The lighter, leaner inline four engine of the new S 1000 RR 2019 spins to a whopping 14,600 revs and delivers up to 113Nm of torque. The revs hit a maximum of 205hp, leaving the previous standard of 200hp in the dust — your dust.
The S 1000 RR’s new ShiftCam is a valve timing system that uses a camshaft to manipulate the intake valves at premium efficiency. The result is energy consumption that lowers fuel usage by 4 percent — while also giving an unprecedented smooth ride.
