Range topper. The BMW 335i. The six-cylinder, high-precision direct injection petrol unit in the BMW 335i represents a BMW engine generation. With its 360hp (225kW) output, the 3.0-lirte turbo engine takes just 5.7 seconds to accelerate to 62mph (100km/h) and is the first engine in the world to combine turbocharging, VALVETRONIC and direct petrol injection. The engine features a turbocharger driven by two separate exhaust gas streams (TwinScroll technology), for an extremely fast response without turbo lag. Together with fully variable VALVETRONIC valve lift control and direct petrol injection, this results in extraordinary power and acceleration, combined with minimal fuel consumption and low emissions.

Acceleration. The BMW 325i. The smooth-running six-cylinder in-line engine features high-precision direct injection and lightweight aluminium and magnesium components, enabling it to develop a top power output of 218hp (160kw). Double-VANOS guarantees muscular torque across all engine speeds. The 325i sprints from 0 to 62mph (100km/h) in just 6.9 seconds and boasts a top speed of 154mph (248km/h).

Dynamism. The BMW 320i. The four-cylinder petrol engine offers high-precision direct injection technology for astounding efficiency. Piezo injectors deliver precisely-measured doses of fuel under high pressure into the combustion chambers, each one designed for perfect thermal performance. The result: a powerful 170hp (125kW) that propels the 320i from 0 to 62 mph (100km/h) in just 8.4 seconds. Top speed is 170mph (226km/h).

Sophistication. The BMW 318i. High-precision direct injection is also a feature in the four-cylinder in-line power unit of the 318i. The engine produces 142hp (105kW), enabling the car sprint from 0 to 62mph (100km/h) in just 9.5 seconds. Acceleration is smooth and effortless, all the way to the top speed of 130mph (210km/h).

The BMW diesel engines demonstrate how to combine smoothness and efficiency with power. Featuring common-rail technology, these engines deliver more power and less noise – as well as reduced fuel consumption. All diesel models come with Diesel Particular Filters (DPF) as standard. With two-stage Twin-turbo, the BMW 3 Series Touring features a BMW innovation that transforms a six-cylinder in-line diesel engine into a unique powerplant: dynamic and powerful. Capable of immediate response at low engine speeds, while also delivering superior top-end ability. Boasting 286hp (210kW) of power and a maximum torque of 580 NM at 1,750rpm, the 335d is one of the sportiest diesels in the world, with an incredible amount of torque available almost from idling speed. A top speed of 155mph (250km/h) and a 0 to 62mph (100km/h)

High performance. The BMW 330d. This engine demonstrates in the most impressive manner how much power you can get out of diesel. Even at 1,750rpm, this six-cylinder in-line diesel engine with 245hp (180 kW) generates 520Nm of torque. This ensures massive pulling power and supreme performance – 0 to 62 mph (100km/h) in just 6.2 seconds, and a top speed of 155mph (250km/h).

BMW was one of the first manufacturers to pursue the goal of efficient driving technologies, as a part of our multiple award-winning sustainable strategy. BMW Efficient Dynamics represents the most comprehensive package of innovative technologies for reducing fuel consumption and emissions – while simultaneously increasing driving dynamics – that is currently in standard production. With it, BMW has been able to reduce to CO2 emissions of its entire fleet by approximately 30% since 1995. 31 models produce less than 140g of CO2 per kilometre, and BMW has already rolled out more than two million vehicles equipped with EfficientDynamics. Auto Start-Stop.

Switches the engine off without affecting other functions whenever the car comes to a rest, at traffic lights for example, saving fuel and reducing emissions. The engine is restarted automatically within a fraction of a second.

Brake Energy Regeneration.

The alternator disengages automatically when the battery is fully charged, only re-engaging when the battery needs charging. This reduces the demands on the engine, reducing fuel consumption and emissions. In addition, when the car is braking or coasting, the system automatically engages the alternator to charge the battery, recycling energy that would otherwise be wasted.

Electric Power Steering.

The electric power steering support only uses energy as needed to assist steering. When a Steering wheel is static, for example when driving on a straight road, the electric motor is inactive.

Optimum Shift Indicator.

Timely gear shifts are one of the effective ways to save fuel. A small visual display on the vehicle’s instrument panel shows the optimum gear for a more fuel-efficient driving style.
